The architecture of EigenCloud was mentioned before, and now with the launch of EigenAI and EigenCompute, it is clear that Eigen (@eigenlayer) is betting on Crypto AI this time, as AI requires economic security and verifiability, which is where Crypto can assist. EigenAI and EigenCompute are built on EigenLayer and EigenDA, ensuring that AI outputs are immutable. This verifiability (immutability) is crucial for the expansion of AI industry applications, including payments, autonomous AI, gaming, and AI DeFi, all of which are important components. EigenCompute supports highly complex computations, allowing developers to build various applications (games, social, lifestyle, etc.) on Ethereum, not just DeFi, which has the potential to open the door to building within the Ethereum ecosystem and may even give rise to new application forms, such as in gaming, where AI agents control core game logic, making it impossible for the game to be perceived as manipulated externally. EigenAI serves as verifiable reasoning on EigenCloud, where AI agents can build on-chain using the EIP-8004 specification. If Eigen can become an important verifiable infrastructure in the rapid development of AI, or evolve into a foundation for application building, then its demand will naturally rise.
Recently, I looked at the architecture of Eigen's EigenCloud, one of the key points being its attempt to achieve a verifiable combination of AI and crypto. Why do I say this? First, let's take a look at Eigen's architecture. The core of the EigenCloud architecture is to allow developers to execute business logic (computations in any container) off-chain, while returning the results on-chain, achieving verifiability and supporting various containers, languages, and hardware. This means giving developers greater freedom and compatibility. Its tech stack includes re-staking protocols (underlying shared security), core primitives (data availability service EigenDA, verification and dispute resolution layer EigenVerify, computation layer EigenCompute, etc.), and ecological services (ZK, Oracle, Inference), among others. From this architecture, EigenCloud attempts to solve some of the issues that traditional dApps cannot run on-chain, such as AI Agents (because it is difficult to support complex hardware and programs). We have previously mentioned a viewpoint that AI and Crypto are a perfect match because they need each other. AI has trust issues and autonomy issues; it needs to ensure verifiable correct operation and have its own wallet, etc. These are things that Crypto can provide. Crypto faces the problem of lacking enough killer applications; currently, Crypto applications mainly focus on DeFi and stablecoins, while other applications, including games and AI agents, have not developed. AI will reconstruct almost all applications in the future, and if AI can run on Crypto, then this will be the greatest hope for Crypto after DeFi and stablecoins. The architecture of EigenCloud allows for the practical integration of AI Agents with Crypto. For example, EigenCloud enables AI agents to be embedded into smart contracts, becoming autonomous and verifiable entities; AI agents can run on EigenCloud with staking security support, EigenDA data availability support, EigenVerify verification support, EigenCompute computation support, etc. The results of the operations are recorded on-chain, and if there are errors, challenges can be made to ensure the correctness of the results through verification protocols. In simpler terms, the Eigen ecosystem supports the verification of the entire stack (computation, data, inference, tools, etc.) and supports the operation of AI agents (model + orchestrator + memory + goals + tool calls, etc.). In other words, Eigen currently provides developers of AI agents with a more user-friendly development infrastructure, with development scenarios including AI + DeFi, AI + DAO, AI + DeSci, AI + GAME...
